The rules for the competition are simple: Entrants need to use a combination of at least 50 percent archival footage from the East Anglian Film Archive. The rest is completely whatever you want! Combined with your footage, you'll have your own short film. This is what's known as a 'mash up'.
Are you still interested? Come along to the mash up launch event where you will be given information and entry forms for this year’s competition, find out about the training we are offering on Tuesday 19th February, and see prize-winning films from entrants in previous years’ competitions. The competition is open to all students from UEA and beyond.
Booking onto and attending this event will include entry to the competition. There are three additional sessions taking place on Tuesday 19th at 11am, 1:30pm and 3:30pm, which are aimed to equip you with the skills you need to create your film, including sourcing and editing archival sources. We highly reccomend that you book onto one of these sessions if you plan to attend this session. (Click each link to find out more info).

What is Do Something Different?
The Do Something Different Programme is about trying a new activity and sparking your interests! We aim to encourage greater student interaction from across schools, liberations and courses that build your knowledge and skills as individuals. Perhaps you've been looking to try a new sport, attending a live music performance, or dabbling in an academic subject that piques your interest? We collate a wide variety of different activities happening across campus - from sports and games, to trips and extracurricular lectures!
There's always something happening every single day, and most events are absolutely free or cost very little! The best events will return during the Do Something Different Festival in Semester Two - a week-long celebration in which teaching is suspended for you to try a huge range of activities! Stay tuned for the full Festival programme coming soon!
